Stamford 4-2 Under18s - report
A very young United U18 went down 4-2 against Stamford on Saturday, although the Blades can be very satisfied with the overall performance against their more senior opponents.
A Nathan Foster penalty and a Jack Adams header were two positives for the visitors, whilst the team that finished the game included four 15-year-olds.
Stamford were two up inside the opening 30 minutes, which put United's youngsters on the back foot.
FOSTER converted from the penalty spot in the 35th minute, after Phillip Roe had been brought down in the area..
Immediately after the interval the hosts restored their two-goal advantage, although there was more than a suspicion of offside.
From then on United dominated and ADAMS headed home a Foster cross in the 65th minute, but as the Blades pushed on in search of an equaliser, Matt Dempsey gave away a penalty, which was duly converted.
Coach Ron Reid was encouraged with the performance, given the inexperience of the team: "It was a very satisfying work out and Stamford were very complimentary about the quality within our squad."
