United's second string secured a comfortable victory against their Leeds United counterparts at Elland Road on Tuesday afternoon to cement their position amongst the front runners in the Pontins Holiday League Eastern Section

Nicky Law, Matt Lowton and Lee Hendrie scored the goals as the Blades dominated the entire game and but for the woodwork could have won by a more comprehensive margin.

The visitors began the brighter and when Binnion's shot rebounded to Robertson, the striker struck a powerful drive that cannoned off the crossbar and bounced back into play, but no-one could force the loose ball home.

The Blades continued to press and after good build-up play between Robertson and Quinn, the latter headed just over from a good position. After a heavy clash in the penalty area Robert Bayly was stretched off for the home team.

United took the lead in the 31st minute when Abdi freed LAW who fired home from just inside the penalty area after an excellent counter attack from a Leeds corner.

As the rain began to fall early in the second half, the Whites equalised when WESTON beat three men before wrong-footing Bennett in the United goal, but the visitors will no doubt feel they should have defended a lot better.

This didn't deter the Blades though and they were soon chasing another goal as Robertson headed just over from a Hendrie free-kick. The former Villa man was involved again as United restored their advantage on 66 minutes. LOWTON nodded in from Robertson flick-on after Hendrie's pinpoint free-kick. A minute later things got worse for the home team when Delph was red-carded for two bookable offences.

In the 87th minute HENDRIE secured the win for United after he fired a powerful effort into the bottom corner following excellent work by Chapman and Law.

Coach Ron Reid was absolutely delighted with the win and felt it was just reward for a thoroughly professional performance:

"We dominated the game and played really well throughout. It was a superb team effort and we could have easily won by a bigger margin.

"Lloyd Kerry was brilliant in the centre of the park, whilst Jordan Robertson showed good strength up front and Liban Abdi's movement was another plus

"Overall I am so pleased with the afternoon's work with the back four looking particularly really solid."
