A product of United's Academy, marksman Billy returned to his beloved Blades in July 2007 after two seasons at Scunthorpe.
Billy progressed through United's youth system, scoring at every level, whilst he also had a successful loan spell with Rushden and Diamonds.
Neil Warnock sold him to Scunthorpe and 23 goals in his first season and 32 in his second attracted persistent attention before Bryan Robson swooped to make his first United signing for an undisclosed fee.
