One of Kevin Blackwell's first signings in the summer of 2008, agreeing a one-year loan deal from Sunderland, Greg began his career with Colchester United, playing in a number of positions.
His impressive performances at Layer Road earned him England U20s honours and multi-million pound moves to both Reading and Sunderland, although first team appearances in the Premiership have been limited. He did, however, enjoy a loan spell at Charlton Athletic in the 2007/08 season.
At 6ft 4ins, he is useful in both penalty areas, whilst he possesses one of the longest throw-ins in the Football League, which will undoubtedly be used in United's attacking armoury.
