Ex Blades present first test
Ferencvaros coach Bobby Davison is ready for Monday evening's pre-season friendly with United at the Albert Florian Stadium.
The former Blades striker, who has been in charge of Fradi since April, will be assessing a number of trialists and the fitness levels of his players in the encounter against Kevin Blackwell's side.
"Our league starts on 9 August, like United, so we have adopted a very similar pre-season programme," said Davison. "Apart from an in-house game, this will be our first serious test and we are looking forward to it.
"I want to look at the trialists and the fitness levels of our players because the two clubs have used a similar programme. We want to see if we are at the same level as United in terms of fitness and how we will match up."
Davison has confirmed that former Blade Paul Shaw will feature for Ferencvaros, as will club captain Peter Lipcsei.
The 36-year-old midfielder, who has more than 50 Hungarian caps, is in his third spell with the club and has also played for FC Porto under the leadership of Bobby Robson.
Fradi boss, Davison, meanwhile will run the rule over quite a number of players. Sheffield-born James Ashmore linked up with the club following his release from Bramall Lane during the summer, whilst reserve striker Liban Abdi is on a season-long loan in Budapest.
Davison also has players from the Ivory Coast, Jamaica and Trinidad to assess, including former Blades target Jan Michael-Williams.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper, who has more than 20 caps to his name in his homeland, has played for another of United's sister clubs, Royal White Star Woluwe, in Belgium.
Monday evening's encounter kicks off at 7pm local time and a full match report will be available soon after the final whistle at sufc.co.uk
