A mouthwatering subplot to Saturday's big Yorkshire derby with Hull City this weekend could prove vital to the outcome.

A goalscoring appearance from the Tigers' bench at Barnsley on Tuesday night put Dean Windass firmly in the frame for a starting place.

And a potential clash with skipper Chris Morgan would be guaranteed to throw up a fascinating battle between two long standing opponents.

Tough as teak Yorkshiremen, playing with Yorkshire clubs and having masses of experience between them is a prospect to savour, and Morgan knows what to expect:

"Dean, like most of us from this county, has plenty of grit and he knows where the net is with all that experience behind him.

"He holds the ball up well, brings others into the build-up and, although his legs won't be what they were, his experience will always count for a lot."

At 30 years of age the Blades centre-back is at the peak of his career and is well-versed in what to expect from the former Blades striker who is now in his 40th year:

"Deano likes to give you a bit of banter on the pitch and expects to get it back so it is always a good contest. Obviously, being a Hull lad has helped the Hull fans take to him but they usually have wherever he has played."
