Beattie hat-trick
United's top goal scorer, James Beattie, has won Capital One's Player of the Year December award, netting his third accolade in as many months.
Although sidelined since Boxing Day with a ligament strain in his left knee, he made vital contributions during December, including a goal against Blackpool to earn himself another celebratory magnum of champagne.
Every month fans can vote for the Capital One Player of the Year in the Sheffield Star. At the end of the season all votes will be counted with the overall winner honored at the Capital One Player of the Year Dinner.
Speaking on receiving his award, James said: "It feels strange receiving this award at a time when I have been injured for a few weeks, and it is a real confidence booster now that I am ready to return to action.
"Many thanks to the fans who supported Capital One - and myself - with their votes."
