Boss delighted by Darius capture
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell is delighted to have pulled of what he describes as a 'terrific deal' after landing Darius Henderson.
Blackwell feels the Doncaster-born marksman posses all the necessary attributes to make him a success at the club and an instant favourite with the Bramall Lane faithful.
"Darius isn't a big lump who sits up there who you smash the ball up to, he has the ability to hold ball up in the last third and get people running off him, which is what I want," said Blackwell of his new £2m striker.
"This is a terrific deal and Darius is the right player for the Blades, he fits the bill in every way. He is a hard worker, strong, takes knocks, never moans and that is what Sheffield United fans expect.
"This move has transpired over last couple of weeks, but the final art of negotiations take longer than you think. I would love it to be simple but that is football. Darius is well up to speed, he passed every physical test in training and looks a really strong lad, he will train again on Thursday and then we can think about playing him."
The Gaffer also stated that despite being in the market for further additions, he will only sign players who he believes can make a difference in a season that Blackwell expects to go down to the wire.
He added: "There aren't many players out there who fit the mould and although we don't need to make too many changes, I looking to fine tune the squad to have a player that can make a difference, whilst adding that bit more quality in-depth which is needed in what will be a marathon season."
