Blades legends beat TV stars
Sheffield United's 1989/90 promotion winning squad rolled back the years when they took on a team of celebrity footballers to help raise money for a local charity.
The Blades legends were 4-2 winners against the 'Allstars' - a squad of players from TV programmes including Hollyoaks, Coronation Street, Shameless, Merseybeat and Phoenix Nights.
Paul Wood, Peter Duffield (2) and Ian Bryson made it 4-0 to the Blades before Ricky Wittle (Calvin - Hollyoaks) and Jamie Lomas (Warren - Hollyoaks) pulled two back for the celebs.
More than 650 spectators turned out to watch the fixture at Sheffield FC's Bright Finance Stadium in Dronfield, which raised vital funds for Sheffield Children's Hospital.
Mitch Ward, Bob Booker, Paul Beesley, Chris Wilder, Carl Bradshaw, Mark Todd, Peter Duffield also starred for the United team, which was led by manager for the day and former Blades physio, Derek French.
Ralf Little (Two Pints of Lager), Nico Mirallegro (Newt - Hollyoaks), Anthony Quinlan (Gilly - Hollyoaks), Archie Kelly (Kenny Senior - Phoenix Nights), Chris Walker (Larry 'Tiger' Barton - Merseybeat), Chris Perry-Metcalfe (Grange Hill) and Alex Lawler (Dream Team) appeared for the Allstars.
The two squads were led out onto the pitch by three-year-old Sheffield United fan Addison Blade Connor who has been a patient at the Children's Hospital.
He was mascot for the day, together with seven year olds Oliver Rains and Billy Lee Dixon who were also patients at the hospital.
Simon Athey, senior fundraiser for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity, said:
"It was a fantastic occasion and we are tremendously grateful to all the Sheffield United players for their efforts on the day.
"The celebs almost staged a comeback but the Blades' quality shone through in the end!
"We had a great crowd of local people turn out to support the two teams and all the money taken on the turnstiles will go towards funding vital equipment and research at Sheffield Children's Hospital."
Bob Booker said: "We were delighted with the result and it was fantastic that so many fans turned out to support us and help raise money for Sheffield Children's Hospital.
"We started really well and managed to score four before half time, but tired towards the end. It was just brilliant to be out there on the pitch with all my old team mates again - just like old times!"
