Community Day at the Lane
A fun-packed celebration of football and cricket is planned for Bramall Lane this Sunday (18th May) and entry is free.
United are hosting a Community Day between 9.30am and 4pm and there is fun for all the family./
The Blades are hoping for an even bigger attendance than last year, as more activities have been planned to keep you entertained throughout the day.
Opening with a 20/20 game of cricket, between celebrities from Sheffield Friends and Sheffield United, team members will include former United players Ted Hemsley Tony Currie, Mark Todd and Adrian Littlejohn. Hemsley, of course is a former professional cricketer and has previously played at Bramall Lane for Worcestershire.
During the day you can watch cheerleading on the pitch followed by the Football Unites, Racism Divides (FURD) six-a-side football tournaments with local boys and girls teams.
Visit various stalls, displays and live music in the Marston's and Millennium Executive Suites to find out about organisations working to make the local area a better place, including boxing and martial arts demonstrations. You can also enjoy a variety of food from local and cultural providers, such as Chinese, Afro-Caribbean and Asian cuisine.
Don't forget to collect your FREE World Book Day book from the Rhyme & Reason book stall in Marston's Suite, all in aid of the National Year of Reading.
This year, take a look around a working Fire Engine and take up Sheffield Sharks challenge and shoot some hoops on the Cherry Street car park.
The gates on Cherry Street (South Stand ramp) will be open from 9.30am till 4pm.
