Representatives from Chengdu Blades are heading to the worst hit areas affected by Monday's massive earthquake in the Sichuan province of China.

Club official Tony Xu and ten players from the Sheffield United owned club, based in the regional capital of Chengdu, will visit the injured around the hard-hit city of Dujiangyan, taking food and water.

Sheffield United and Chengdu Blades have donated thousands of football shirts to those affected who have been left with little possessions.

United's fitness coach Michael Watts was also in Chengdu when the earthquake hit and the club have been in close contact with all the club's personnel.

United Plc chairman Kevin McCabe said: "I have spoken with both Tony and Michael. They are helping to raise spirits during this devastating time and arranging any support the club can provide, which is great to hear.
