Chengdu Blades claimed their biggest scalp since getting promoted to the CSL, with a 2-1 win against China's most successful club, Dalian Haichang, on Saturday.

The match, live on Chinese television, attracted more than 20 million viewers, as the Blades beat Dalian for the first time in four years.

Captain Wang Song was the hero, netting both goals for the home side and in the process he propelled himself to the top of the CSL scoring charts after four rounds.

The first opportunity of the game fell to the visitors, but after good work from Woodlander, Geleekov fired over from inside the area.

After having an earlier free-kick saved, it was WANG SONG who opened the scoring in the 27th minute. The Blades captain controlled the ball excellently before firing home, following good work by Zou Peng.

Brazilian striker Rodrigues was brought on at half-time replacing debutant Demar Stewart.

Dalian began the second-half the brighter and in the 51st minute they were level. ZOU JIE finished off a free-flowing move from the visitors after Geleekov had played an instrumental part on the right.

The teams were only level for ten minutes though, before the Blades regained the lead. After a mistake by Tang Tian in the Dalian defence, Rodrigues crossed for WANG SONG to bag his second from just inside the penalty box.

Haichang tried in vain to find an equaliser, but the Blades held firm to record an historic victory and Blades boss Li Bing, was a happy man after the final whistle:

"I am delighted with the result and very proud of my players. Dalian are one of the very best in China and this win shows our ability at this level.

"The players did everything they could to get a result and the 25,000 plus crowd gave us continuous backing throughout the game."
