United's U18s went down to a two-nil defeat against a powerful Wolves team in the Midlands on Saturday, which brought to an end their five-game unbeaten run.

Despite dominating the opening exchanges, the Blades were punished for their missed chances, as the home team scored two goals in four first-half minutes.

The visitors began the brighter with Chapman and S-Latef having good opportunities, but the home defence held firm.

Wolves then went in front against the run of play after some good work out wide, the Wanderers striker converting from close-range.

The lead was doubled four minutes later as the hosts capitalised on some indecision in the United backline and Ho Lee was given no chance from point-blank range.

United rallied before the interval, with Chanot heading narrowly over from Askham's corner, before skipper Adam Chapman struck a powerful free-kick just wide.

The second-half followed a similar pattern with the Blades doing everything but score against a resolute Wolves team.

The visitors missed a great opportunity mid-way through the second period when both United strikers failed to get on the end of Walker's pin-point centre.

Coach Kevin Fogg was disappointed that his side's five-game unbeaten came to an end and he was also upset not to get anything from the game on Saturday:

"We were made to rue our missed chances against a very well organised Wolves team, although it was a very good performance from our lads.

"It is disappointing that our unbeaten run has come to an end, although between now and the end of the season we can give some of our younger players a chance to impress."

Blades: Ho Lee, Chapman, Walker, Wedgbury, Chanot (Smith 78), Dempsey, Askham, Eagers, Roberts (Rhodes 72), Boden, S-Latef (Reid 67).
