United were swept away by a rampant Charlton Athletic side in the FA Youth Cup 4th round at The Valley on Wednesday evening. The Addicks smashed the young Blades 6-0 in front of a jubilant crowd of 1,369.

It was one-way traffic from the off with Jonjo Shelvey and Ben Godfrey both netting twice, whilst Rashid Yussuff and Danny Uchechi were also on target for the Londoners.

The home side took the lead in the 13th minute when YUSSUFF hit a sweet shot into the bottom left-hand corner after good work by Wagstaff.

United looked to find an equaliser and Askham tested Woolley in the Charlton goal, before S-Latef fired just over from long-range.

The hosts doubled their lead on the half hour when SHELVEY drilled a low angled shot past Ho Lee with the aid of deflection following more excellent stuff by Wagstaff.

Nine minutes later it was three, Godfrey this time setting up SHELVEY.

It soon became four just before the interval when Kyle Walker fouled Godfrey in the box, allowing UCHECHI to add his name to the scoresheet from the spot.

The Blades began the second-half brightly and Roberts almost pulled one back, only for Long to produce an excellent last ditch tackle.

GODFREY, a thorn in United's side throughout, got in on the act in the 49th minute, coolly finishing into the bottom left-hand corner after more free-flowing football by the home side.

The visitors refused to let their heads drop and Roberts fired just wide after finding a bit of space inside the box, before Chapman volleyed in another effort in the hope of notching a consolation.

GODFREY added his second in the 66th minute to make it six as he raced through and clipped the ball past the stranded Ho Lee to round off a great night for the Addicks.

Disappointed Blades coach Scott Sellars made no excuses: "We were well beaten by a betetr side."
