United's U18s went down to a 1-0 defeat at Derby County in a scrappy game on Saturday, in their return to action following a series of postponements.

A Maxime Chanot mistake on the stroke of half-time led to the County striker beating Kang Ho Lee to score the only goal of the game and make it four league games without a win for the Blades.

In a game of few chances, it was the Blades who had the first opportunity in front of goal, when Boden failed to convert following a good passing move.

The game sprang into life in the 44th minute when the Rams striker robbed Chanot on the edge of the United penalty area and coolly slotted the ball past the advancing Ho Lee.

The Blades failed to find an equaliser in a dull second-half and Coach Scott Sellars will be hoping for more when his side travel to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday evening:

"It was a non event really, we looked rusty and didn't perform and we must work on a few things ahead of the trip to Charlton."
