The Blades U18s extended their unbeaten run to four matches after securing a deserved point in the stalemate against Leeds United on Saturday.

In a closely fought encounter United slightly edged proceedings and had a goal disallowed in the dying minutes.

The first-half saw goal scoring opportunities at a premium, with Lee Askham and Scott Boden both seeing half-chances saved, following efforts from the edge of the area.

Leeds offered little threat to the Blades goal, as most of the action was in the midfield as the game petered out towards the interval.

The second period saw the home side exert more pressure, but United's youngsters were resolute in defence as Leeds threatened several times from set pieces.

The visitors came close to a winner on two occasions inside the last ten minutes. Firstly, Luca Senicanin hit the bar with a great strike after good build-up play, and four minutes later Boden had his effort ruled out for offside, although United were convinced it should have stood.

Coach Scott Sellars was satisfied with the point and drew special praise for his back four after a determined display against a physical Leeds outfit:

"It was a good performance against a really strong team at this level and another clean sheet was a massive plus.

"We played well in parts without reaching the heights of recent weeks, although the back-four deserve a big pat on the back for staying strong throughout, especially from set-pieces."
