Academy 2-0 Derby - match report
United's U18s secured their third successive 2-0 victory as Derby County were put to the sword at Shirecliffe on Saturday.
Goals from Aymen Tahar and Grant Roberts were enough to see off the Rams as the Blades put in another assured performance to continue their impressive start to the season.
The home side began brightly and soon edged their noses in front. TAHAR pressured a defender into a mistake and slotted home with ease past the advancing keeper.
United were in complete control with Tahar and Gordon both having half-chances, and the latter should have done better with a header when well-placed moments later.
The second-half followed a similar pattern and Boden had a shot cleared off the line as the Blades pressed on for a second.
Roberts then hit the post with a long range effort, before Tahar got back in the thick of the action as he tested the strength of the goal frame. Gordon then had an effort ruled out as the Blades continued to exert their authority.
The pressure paid off, in the 85th minute, ROBERTS broke forward from midfield and beat the last man before coolly finishing with a precise shot into the bottom corner.
Coach Scott Sellars: "It was another really good effort from the boys and everyone is looking fitter and strong after each game. The work rate from the lads was excellent throughout, and Aymen Tahar bossed the game in the second-half.
"It is important we continue to play as we are doing at the moment meaning the players can enhance their development."
