The Forsyth Sheffield United Academy is proud of its two state of the art, third generation artificial pitches - one indoor and one outdoor - which are among the finest in the UK.

Both pitches are available to you and your friends for hire in various sizes and at competitive rates. Discounted rates are available for junior players or for community football by negotiation or written application. The hire charge includes the provision of changing and shower facilities, the loan of goals, bibs and footballs, with catering facilities available at reasonable extra cost.

Want to hold a meeting?
If you or your company wants to hold a private meeting or seminar the academy can also offer you a choice of rooms - our boardroom at £18 per hour, our balcony room, which overlooks the indoor pitch, at £25 per hour, our classroom at £20 per hour or even our Gym at £25 per hour. Once again, catering facilities are available at reasonable cost.

Directions to the Forsyth Sheffield United Academy

From M1 (Southbound)

  • Leave M1 South at Junction 36
  • Take the 2nd exit onto the A61 (Sheffield North)
  • Continue on the A61 into Sheffield (approx. 6 miles)
  • At the roundabout (just before the Sheffield Wednesday F.C.) take the 1st exit onto Herries Road.
  • After approximately a quarter of a mile bear left up the hill (still Herries Road) A6102
  • At the first round about turn right onto Shirecliffe Road.
  • Travel along Shirecliffe Road and take the 1st left after the Timbertop Public House into Firshill Crescent.
  • The Academy is 200 yards on the left hand side.

From Manchester via Woodhead Pass

  • From the M57 come across the Woodhead Pass towards Sheffield.
  • At the Flouch Inn roundabout turn right onto the end of the Stocksbridge by pass.
  • At the first roundabout (approx. 5miles) take the 3rd exit onto the A61 (Sheffield North).
  • Continue on the A61 into Sheffield (approx. 6 miles).
  • At the first roundabout (just before Sheffield Wednesday F.C.) take the 1st exit onto Herries Road.
  • After approximately quarter of a mile bear left up the hill (still Herries Road) A6102.
  • At the first roundabout turn right onto Shirecliffe Road.
  • Travel along Shirecliffe Road and take the 1st left after the Timbertop Public House into Firshill Crescent.
  • The Academy is 200 yards on the left hand side.

From Sheffield Central

  • From the Park Square roundabout Sheffield City Centre.
  • Turn right at the traffic lights (A6109) for Lower Don Valley.
  • Go through the 1st set of traffic lights and under the bridge.
  • Turn right at the second set of traffic lights.
  • Drive for 100 yards and take the filter road off to the left immediately after the Arches.
  • Continue on up the hill, past the shops and straight on through the traffic lights.
  • After the speed cameras, take the 2nd left onto Minna Road (signposted Shirecliffe).
  • Go through the 1st set of traffic lights and turn right at the 2nd set of lights. You are now on Shirecliffe Road.
  • Continue on up the hill. As the hill levels out turn right immediately before the pelican crossing onto Firshill Crescent.
  • The Academy is 200 yards on the left hand side.

From the south

  • Leave M1 at junction 33 and take the 1st exit to Sheffield
  • Drive for 3 miles and at Gala Bingo/Matalan Retail Park get into right hand lane.
  • Turn right at the traffic lights (A6109) for Lower Don Valley.
  • Go through the 1st set of traffic lights and under the bridge.
  • Turn right at the second set of traffic lights.
  • Drive for 100 yards and take the filter road off to the left immediately after the Arches.
